Welcome

FIREFIGHTERS SAVE LIVES

We are your neighborhood fire department. Your dedicated  Montgomery County professionals respond every time you dial 911. Our Volunteer Chiefs, Administrative Officer, Mechanics and elected Board Members provide day-to-day support to the Fire department's operations.

The Bethesda Fire Department's mission - to save lives and property - remains constant throughout the years. Our objective is to do the very best job we can. Everything we strive for and everything we have is aimed at accomplishing our job and continually improving how we perform.

Bethesda Fire Department's partner, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue services firefighters, all certified Emergency Medical Technicians, frequently are the first fire units to arrive at your home for emergency rescue and fire calls.

June 24, 2008: BFC James Resnick stopped to help a citizen in distress on the ramp to Democracy Blvd. This is a letter from the citizen he helped.

I just wanted to thank Batallion Chief James Resnick for helping me on Tuesday afternoon.  I was pulled over on the side of the on ramp for Democracy Blvd because I was very dizzy and my heart was beating very fast. He pulled over and called an ambulance for me, and with his help along with EMT's Steven and Anthony, I was taken to Suburban hospital where they were able to diagnose me with a heart condition know as PSVT.  It is not life threatening, but I had these episodes in the past and just wrote them off as panic attacks.  I now know the cause of these attacks and would never have known without their help.  They made this scary experience seem a little less stressful because they were so nice throughout it all.  Thank you so much for all that you do, and please make sure that their superiors see this email and understand what a great job they all do every day!!!
